All things chocolate: A chocolatier is opening her own chocolate shop on Chapel Hill's Franklin Street, featuring more than two dozen flavors that include some unusual, yummy-sounding mixes such as champagne, Mayan and bacon.

Yep, that's pieces of maple bacon dipped in chocolate. Buzz's stomach danced a happy jig when we heard that one.

Meghan Rosensweet is owner of the new business, The Chocolate Door, that's opening Friday at 516 W. Franklin St., next door to IP3. Grand opening will be all day Saturday, with tastings and Buy One Get One Free deals. A percentage of the sales Saturday will go toward Haiti.

The Texas-born chef told Buzz she always wanted to own a chocolate shop ever since the first time she made chocolate from scratch. Rosensweet is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta. Her chocolates have been sold at the West End Wine Bar in Chapel Hill and Durham.

The Chocolate Door will have some old favorites, such as coffee, butterscotch and milk chocolate caramel. More unusual flavors will include chocolate-dipped chili peppers, Mexican Hot Cocoa Balls and OMG!, which stands for Oh My Ganache!, a shot of ganache inside a chocolate cup.

Shoppers can pick and choose their favorite flavors for a box. The shop will also sell truffles, fudge, handmade chocolate bark by the pound and some beverages, including coffee, hot chocolate and drinking chocolate, which is a rich drink of melted down chocolate.

Free parking is provided next to The Chocolate Door. The business will take special orders for Valentine's Day. Heart-shaped boxes with assorted milk, white and dark chocolates are available.

The business will be open 11 a.m. - 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday, and Thursday through Saturday. It will be open 2-7 p.m. Wednesday and close Sundays.

More on vets: Buzz neglected to mention on Monday that Southpoint Animal Hospital, a new veterinary practice for small animals that's under construction near Woodcroft, will also offer traditional services.

The practice by veterinarians Brian Lapham and Lisa Farling will offer such services as preventative and wellness, intensive care, digital radiology, oral surgery and provide boarding and grooming, in addition to holistic services.
