The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority received an additional $1.38 million in July for its airfield lighting and sign replacement project.

The funding is from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The nearly $10 million project received $4.5 million stimulus funds in the spring, along with a $2.5 million state grant.

The initial funds are being used to replace nearly all lighting on the west side of the airfield with energy-saving LEDs.

The additional funding will allow the Airport Authority to expand its use of LED lighting.
